GINNY FOWL GIN

Ginny Fowl Gin is handcrafted in the age old tradition, harking back to the prohibition era. A time of grand parties and elegant style. Four of the flavours are crafted using the cold bathtub infusion method while the more classic Resurrection is distilled.

The gin story began with Shane Douglas-Evans wanting to make gins with different flavours. She started with a Fynbos gin and although it was great, decided to explore the boundaries. There are enough glorious Fynbos gins on the market so she decided to leave well enough alone. What Shane is trying to do is stretch the palate, whilst maintaining the integrity of the ‘gin’.

OUR GIN CREATOR, OUR CRAFT AND DISTILLED GINS

Shane decided that to really stand out and be different she would embrace the retro ‘bathtub,’ cold compound infusion method. Making use of distilled liquor and then infusing the botanicals and filtering. This preserves the freshness of the botanicals, since distilling takes them to high temperature. Because there are people who are purists, she produced a distilled Classic gin with eight botanicals too. For this, she has used a herb she knows from Botswana called the Resurrection Herb (Myrothamnus flabellifolia), A ‘cure-all’ herb with extraordinary anti-oxidant properties, which adds a delightful piney depth of flavour, to compliment the Juniper.

The real magic happens when you discover the Black Sesame and Cacao Sipping Gin with back notes of smooth chocolate and orange. This she made after thinking of an alternative to cognac or whiskey, at the end of a meal, for gin drinkers.
